The Kilwa Project
Junction Associate Artist Catherine Watling has recently been awarded an Arts Council Grant to allow her to attend the Kilwa Archaeological Survey (Tanzania). Her 5-week period of research will result in a work-in-progress screening of a digital video artwork that will be shown on her return to the UK.
This project will be the start of an exploration of the intersection between art, science and archaeology and is a collaboration between artist Catherine Watling, doctoral researcher Stephanie Wynne-Jones of Cambridge University and the Junction, Cambridge.
Catherine leaves for Africa on Friday 22nd August 2003. The screening will be scheduled before the end of March 2004. Regular updates on the progress of both the archaeological and artistic research will be posted on the following websites:
